Captivity Of Endangered Species By Humans ? An Ironic Consequence Of Our Mistakes

Many persons justify the captivity of sea life by pointing out that these animals would be at a much higher risk to hunting and poaching if they are allowed in the open sea or ocean. Well, that is equivalent to stating that it is better to keep a person in jail than to kill him or her when the truth is that he or she has not done anything to deserve the punishment.

Humans have come up with advanced technologies for fishing the deep seas and oceans without any difficulty. This has affected the natural imbalance. Further, certain sea predators have been attacked for their teeth, skin, oil or other body parts. Humans have recklessly over exploited the resources of the planet. A population explosion has compelled people to hunt for more food.

All this has resulted in certain species becoming near extinct. Now, humans are suggesting that animals of these species must be captured and kept in captivity so that they are not destroyed. If humans were so keen on protecting the species, why did they trawl the deep seas and indulge in reckless fishing to earn more profits? These are pertinent questions which must be answered before proceeding further.

However, the sad truth is that bulk of these questions have become academic. We have overexploited the oceans and are now trying to do our best to reduce the guilt. However, the sad truth is that our reckless activity and our supposedly remedial action – both have spelt disastrous for the animals. They were killed in the past. Now, they are being kept in the captivity. In both cases, they were never at fault.

Going Down to the Sea

Those people who have taken ocean cruises, especially to places like Alaska, can tell you that those words are true. It is not unusual to see ocean wildlife such as whales and narwhals actually coming within very close range of cruise ships. On the shores as well as the ice floes, seals, sea lions, polar bears, and other wildlife lift their heads or just open their eyes wide enough to watch the ship slip past them quietly, never disturbing them but merely sharing the vastness of the ocean.

For many people, this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime happening. Often, honeymooners and retired couples book ocean cruises to celebrate these very important milestones in their lives. The newlywed couple may be able to return one day, but still the first time will be the most special because it was part of their new life together. No matter where they go or what they do as they continue in their marriage, it is this trip that they will remember with a certain fondness.

Retired people, on the other hand, may know with certainty that such an experience and adventure will be theirs only this one time. Even so, as they stare in awe at the ocean wildlife they encounter, this will probably be the furthest thing from their minds. Once home, they will relive the memories and talk about the sights they saw many times as they live out their years together.

For many centuries, only those who worked on ocean vessels were afforded the chance to see exotic creatures and strange places. As time passed, those who served their countries by traveling the seas were treated to these same sights and more. Now, thanks to cruise ships that can travel just about anywhere that can be imagined, more and more people can and are enjoying ocean cruises every year.

Living With Fish in Denver Apartments

Living in Denver apartments with a pet is great if you’re home every day. When you travel or have a job that requires a flexible work schedule, pets may not be a possibility. An aquarium of fish is a great solution with all of the equipment available on the market today. With a fish feeder and a filter pump, the aquarium will stay clean and the fish will be well fed. So go ahead and place a large tank on that unused wall in the living room. Getting a roomy cabinet to hold all the aquarium supplies will really help keep the fish tank compartmentalized.

If you don’t have a lot of room, go vertical instead of horizontal. A tank that sits four feet high on a tall cabinet will be the center attraction. Keep the tank away from direct sunlight to avoid algae and follow some easy tips to always have a clean aquarium. Clean the tank every month by removing 25% of the water and replacing it with clean cool water, not warm. Cool water is easier to make warm, but it is difficult to cool down an overly hot tank. Maintain and clean the tubing and filter, and add chemicals until the tank is in balance.

Choose fish that get along well together. Ask a professional about the kinds of fish that will work well in your tank. Keep an eye on the temperature of the water to make sure the fish are comfortable. Don’t be surprised when you begin to name your fish or discover they all have personalities. Some will be shy and some will come right up to the glass and welcome you home. Beautiful and calming to watch, fish can be a wonderful addition to Denver apartments.

Use a Prepaid Credit Card When Buying on Etsy

I’ve mentioned that I love to spend a lot of time on Etsy. And to be honest, there is so much stuff on there that is so adorable, that it has become really difficult to not buy almost everything I see. I’ve gotten a lot of my friends into Etsy as well. It’s just a great place to go to buy fun, cute items.

I’ve decided recently to put my Etsy spending limit for the month on a prepaid credit card. This is the best way for me to stick to my budget, and not go above what I really have to spend. It’s really helped. Sure, I still buy like crazy, but I know on a regular basis how much I’m allowed to spend over the course of the month.

The great thing that I have found about Etsy is that you can find almost anything and everything you could ever want on the one website. In fact, you can most definitely find a ton of things you wouldn’t necessarily want or need, too! It’s pretty crazy what you can find on there. You can even get things personalized, so if you are trying to find that perfect gift for someone you know, it’s a great way to go. Spending money on there is way too easy, sometimes.

Some people have this false impression of the site, that you can only find random junk on there. Though you most definitely can, this is of course not all you can find. If you are getting married, you can find great wedding favors; if you are having a baby, there are tons of great baby items. Finding great, fun stuff for any occasion (or no occasion at all) is so easy! It’s a great place to find hand-crafted items that are unique whether you’re buying for others or yourself.

Ways to Save Cash

A Piggy bank (penny bank/money box)

Besides following a very strict budget, saving money is always challenging. Even on a budget, sometimes expenses come up that cost more than you expected. Pets have emergencies, and you are thankful to have spent some of the saved money on pet insurance. Other times, it just is too tempting to spend that saved money because it’s just sitting there.

The first step in saving money is to decide what you’re saving for. If you’re just saving to save, it’s likely you’ll just spend the money. Set a firm goal. If you’re saving for a pair of shoes, find out the exact price (with tax) and that amount. It makes it like a game; slowly counting down to when you’ve saved enough.

If you have trouble saving in one lump sum, break it into sections. If you’re saving $1000 for something, save in $250 segments. Keep the money in your savings account where it isn’t within easy reach. Never save in a piggy bank – the pig will meet an untimely demise.

Saving in small ways might be easier. Try cutting back to one coffee a day instead of two. Put that extra $3 toward your savings. Walk instead of taking the bus, not only is it better for you – you can put that $0.50 toward your savings. Even something as tiny as that can add up over time.

Keep track of all of your expenses, no matter how small. Just by tracking it, you’ll find you spend way more money than you probably want too. Of course, there are necessities. You might be able to trim your Netflix down, but dear doggy still needs his pet insurance. Just make smart choices and look for cheaper alternatives to things you feel you can’t live without.

When you finally get what you’ve saved for, it makes it so much easier to save for the next thing. Splurging can discourage you from trying again, so make sure you keep your goal in mind.
